M2 - Generating Ideas Through Processes

From this module,

I learnt how to use the visual script (Grasshopper), one of the plugins to Rhino to aid my design process. Which is relatively tough on me, as I faced difficulty on doing task a of this module.

While doing this module, it led me to think, what sort of geometry pattern attract visitors? What visual effect it can be shown? How do the onlookers view the structure like a pavilion? What scale is it to be in order this structure to be built in reality?

Many questions pop up in my mind, wondering how can I proceed on to my design with these questions.

Trial and error are needed in this process.

With a key concept in mind, I went ahead with my final iteration and started doing my physical model.

Which kept me awake late at night, hesitating to finish my model as I am afraid it might not stand up straight.

But with the panels and waffle structure supporting one another, it eventually became stable.

This led me thinking if i were to change the curvature and the number of point on the base (like a four-point structure) it has a possibility to become even more stable and will be a more successful model.

Task A

Task B

Following will be part b to this module, which is solid and void.

Using the creation of different shapes in Grasshopper and Rhino that allows me to create complex shapes within the study area of 50cm by 50cm by 50cm from the bounding box of 150cm by 150cm by 150cm.

Many iterations were done, exploring around a narration in mind with the different iteration to be 3D printed out, showing the complexity of shapes.

Though this task seems relatively easier in terms of commands and iterations.

Showing how does the three 3D print had in relation to one another is not easy, as it got to be linked to one another.

I  was mainly stuck with my last iteration as after the process of having it printed out, the structural support of the key area that supports it, broke and I struggle to fix it.

But it turns out to be a blessing in disguise as I never knew I can explore other sides which is interesting and unique to its own, while remains linked to my narration of the whole process for the concept
